Dr. Paola Marignani
Dr. Paola Marignani is a Full Professor at Dalhousie University in the Faculty of Medicine, Dept. Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She conducted postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School in the Division of Signal Transduction, the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute and the Ontario Cancer Institute, Toronto, Ontario. Dr. Marignani earned an Executive MBA from the Ivey School of Business and a Certificate from MIT in Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare.
In 2016 Dr. Marignani founded Canadian Women in STEM that is focused on building a national strategy for equity, diversity and inclusion in Canada. CDNWomenSTEM is networked with 2700 self-identified scientists for across the STEM spectrum.
In 2021, Dr. Marignani joined Creative Destruction Lab as a Mentor Scientist and Business Strategist for both Prime and the Cancer Streams. Over the years, Dr. Marignani's mentorship at CDL has been instrumental in helping tech and biotech startups succeed, demonstrating her commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in science. She has mentored more than 20 startups, in industries ranging from muscle health to clean-water innovations, sustainable cowhide alternatives, and women's health. Many of those companies have gone on to bring their products or services to market and flourish, such as Myomar Molecular, Hollo Medical, Elle MD, and NovaResp Technologies.
